Ministry criticizes proposal to reopen bingos

The proposal to change a new legislation to reopen the bingos, which is being studied by the government of the State, has received several criticisms from the Federal Public Ministry.

For the State Attorney, André Stefani Bertuol, the suggestion of a decree or a provisionary measure authorizing the reopening of the bingo rooms and the functioning of slot machines is “totally unacceptable and judicially void”. Bertuol coordinated, along with the Federal Police, the closure of the six bingo rooms in Florianopolis on the 15th.

In the entire State, the operation of the Federal Police concluded with the closure of 24 bingo rooms, as well as the slot machines that were set in other facilities. The closure of the bingos was a consequence of the decision made by the Supreme Federal Tribunal in August that judged unconstitutional the state law 11348/2000, which regulated the activity of Santa Catarina under the authorization of the Company of Development of the Santa Catarina State. With that decision, the bingos stopped having legal base to continue operating.
