Recent reports show more and more women are using the internet to gamble at home.
US and UK figures show women are increasingly becoming a main target for online companies as more women try their hand on the web. The River City Group a gambling analysis company based in St Louis, claim that 68 per cent of online gamblers are women.
They claim this is because more men go to traditional casinos while women find the atmosphere there intimidating and so prefer to stay at home.
In the UK, a recent report by NetImperative, an online market research company, claim that fewer women in the UK are gambling online, a figure estimated to be about 40 per cent.
However, the numbers of women gamblers are continuing to grow. In March 2001, only 1,100 registered players were women, but merely a year later the figure had doubled.
The online gambling industry is continuing to grow, and experts predict the amount of female gamblers will grow rapidly because of accessibility and usability.
