A young man, 28, was arrested after pretending he was kidnapped and claiming 10K Argentinean pesos (USD 3000) in ransom. This was the fourth time he pretended to be kidnapped since 2003.

Last Monday, as he leaved his work at a pizza place, after receiving his monthly pay, he went directly to a bingo parlor in Avellaneda and lost every dime. Desperate he called his family, distorting his voice, and asking his family for a ransom.

His family called the police and the Federal Attorneys of Quilmes started investigating.

Two days later, the young man showed up at a gas station and asked for a phone, saying he was able to escape his captors. Under police interrogation he managed to elaborate a fantastic story about his alleged kidnapping. But detectives didn’t bite…

After the young man’s family called, detectives started investigating and discovered the three other kidnapping stories, so they started to suspect. The young man faked his kidnaps in 2003, October 2004, March 2006 and now.

The reality is that this young pizza man has a gambling addiction, and every time he spent all his money playing bingo he faked his own kidnapping to take money from his relatives and be able to continue playing.

The man is now under arrest and faces charges of extortion.
