The residencies for the old people of Litera have designed a program of activities for Christmas time. In the residency of Tamarite, the activities started last Tuesday with a championship of domino, chinquillo and ludo. Then, there will be a concert of the Music School of Tamarite.

Sunday, Christmas’ eve, there is going to be a folk band called Alma Literana. A recital of poetry is planned for the 29th. The elder will be able to enjoy the cotillion on Christmas’ eve. On Wednesday 3rd, the prizes of the tournaments will be given.

5,000 slot machines were seized

The police has spent some time checking the bingo rooms, last week they went over 18 rooms and seized almost 5,000 illegal slot machines in Rio de Janeiro. There had to be used 40 trucks in order to be able to take the machines, which are thought to have illegally imported parts inside and therefore they can’t be used in the country.

The police went to the 18 bingo rooms on Saturday and seized 5,000 illegal machines in Rio de Janeiro, according to the information given by the authorities.

Valerie Hargrave, of Moss Bay, called the National Bingo Game while playing at the Opera Bingo last night. Graves Cumberland, managers of Opera Bingo, confirmed they had a £201,000 winner.

The game is the country’s largest bingo game and has halls around Britain connected between each other for the big prize. In the past eight years, Graves Cumberland, have paid out over £2.3million to national game winners.

Equipment of a bingo room

Brabingo, a Brazilian manufacturer of equipments for bingo rooms, has installed for the first time a room in the Mexican city of Pachuca. With the launching of the bingo room, called WinPot, a huge party was held with a big number of visitors who were anxious to start playing bingo in the new place.

The company Brabingo, has the intention of expanding to other markets and these were the first steps taken by the company towards it by setting up the equipment of a bingo room in Mexico.

ATE’s strike had a 75% support

During the first period of the 48-hour strike that is being carried out by the State Workers Association (ATE in Spanish), the adhesion to it was of the 75%. “We are satisfied for the response on the measure”, the secretary of the union, Arturo Godoy, said. “The adhesion was as it was being projected since last week, very important in the Health and Education sectors, and low on the organisms where they are tight to perfect attendance”, he said.
He also said the percentages are about 75%, as last week. He also pointed out that in the Education, the adhesion was of 100%, because no administrative employees have gone to work.

Ex Policeman arrested

A former police officer was recently arrested after a failed attempt to rob a bingo hall by claiming to be an undercover officer. The elaborate plot was well planned, but after one mistake the man was finally arrested.

Matthew Brakewell, 29, served in the Greater Manchester Police and the Isle of Man force until he was released from his duties. He went to the Gala Bingo saying he was in an undercover mission but was filmed taking money from a bag in the safe room.

Smoking ban for bingo rooms was ratified

During next week, the new measure taken will be extended to the rest of the bingos in the city of Buenos Aires.

Codere reached the 131.4 million euros

The private gambling company Codere improved its operational benefits during the nine months of the year 2006 in a 95.8%, now they have reached the 131.4 million euros, while the invoicing was of 543 million euros which meant an increase of 69.8%, according to the company.

Catalunya reduces the bingo rate in two points

The Counsel will lower two points of the fiscal pressure on bingos as a measure to reactivate that game sector.
